A large, 5-bedroom passivhaus in Essex replacing an existing dwelling on a smallholding in the Green Belt.

The timber frame building is part clad in hand made oak shakes split from an oak tree that fell on the property.

Many of the rooms have a floor finish of end grain wood blocks cut from cherry, chestnut, ash and other trees from the property.

The plan features 2m wide sliding walls between the main rooms of the house; living room, family room, dining room and playroom to form a sequence running the length of the house for the regular family Sunday lunch for up to 60 guests.
